Day 1: Home - İstanbul

Arrival in İstanbul. Transfer to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight (D/O) in Istanbul.

Day 2: İstanbul

Visiting the highlights of İstanbul: the Hippodrome; the Blue Mosque; the basilica of St. Sophia, the 6th century Byzantine church of divine wisdom, one of the greatest marvels of architecture of all times, famous for its immense dome and mosaics: the Topkapı Palace. Promenade in the Covered Bazaar. D/O.

Day 3: İstanbul - Antalya

Visiting several churches of İstanbul. Visiting the mosque complex of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent; the Church of St. Saviour in Chora with its superb frescoes and mosaics; the Mosque of Eyüp and the Café of Pierre Loti, to have a modern sketch of the Golden Horn. Transfer to the airport for Antalya. Overnight in Antalya.

Day 4: Antalya

Visiting three most celebrated cities of Pamphylia: Perge, with its stadium, theatre and the colonnaded street, where St. Paul passed through on his first journey; Aspendos, with its well preserved theatre of antiquity and Side with its magnificent classical monuments. D/O in Antalya.

Day 5: Antalya

Attending the Commemoration of St. Nicholas. Visiting the Archeological Museum of Antalya, where icons, mosaics and the relics of St. Nicholas are displayed. D/O in Antalya.

Day 6: Antalya - Demre - Antalya

Departure for Demre, where St. Nicholas spent most of his life. Attending the Religious Celebration at St. Nicholas Church. Visiting the rock tombs and the theatre of Myra. D/O in Antalya.

Day 7: Antalya - Pamukkale

Departure for Pamukkale. On the way, visiting the Church in Laodicea, which is one of the Seven Churches of Apocalypse. Strolling through Hierapolis, with its Matyrium of St. Philip. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale. (Possibility of a thermal bath.)

Day 8: Pamukkale – Kuşadası

Departure for Kuşadası. On the way visiting the Aphorodisias, the only city dedicated to Aphrodite, and Miletos, where St. Paul visited at the end of his third journey. Dinner and overnight in Kuşadası.

Day 9: Kuşadası - İzmir

Visiting Ephsus, about which St. Paul said  “Is there a greater city!”, with its Church of virgin Mary or the Double Church and the Grotto of Seven Sleepers; the House of Virgin Mary, the Basilica of St. Jean and the Archeological Museum. Departure for İzmir. Visiting St. Policarp in İzmir. Dinner and overnight in İzmir.

Day 10: İzmir - Bursa

Departure for Pergamum. Visiting the Asclepium, the Acropolis and the Church at the site of ancient Serapium, the Red Court, dedicated to St. John. Departure for Bursa. Visiting the Great Mosque, the Green Mosque and the Green Mausoleum. Dinner and overnight in Bursa.

Day 11: Bursa - İznik - İstanbul

Departure for İstanbul. On the way visiting İznik, the ancient Nicaea, with its Cathedral of St, Sophia, where the 7th Oecumencial Council convened. Arrival and dinner and overnight in İstanbul.

Day 12: İstanbul

Day leisure on half- board basis. (Optional tour covering the visits of the main Byzantine and modern churches.)

Day 13: İstanbul – Home

Transfer to the airport and departure.
